8 years ago, I wrote my dad a poem.
But that was 8 years ago! I want to do something new and nice for my dad, so I’m trying to plan out something new for him. Which could still involve the poem.
It’s been 4 years since i started living on my own. It feels so different without a father in your home. I almost forgot the phrase – “It feels like home.” So everytime i visit him, i never fail to give him the warmest hug and my sweetest kiss to let him feel how much i always miss him. And i never leave the house without saying I Love You. And when talking on the phone, I always make sure i tell him how much i love him before before our conversation ends.
the best gift i ever gave to my dad? I graduated college, helping them now and was NOT part of the young-single-moms-society. Well, this is according to him hehe 😉
My dad is working abroad but we always have communication so everytime I talk to him on the phone, I always say “Take care” and “I Love You.” It doesn’t matter if I’m already a man because I owe my life to him and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Happy father’s day dad!
since i started working, i always get him something really nice as a combined birthday-christmas-fathers day gift. two years ago, it was a flatscreen tv, last year a two-door fridge — this year i plan to get him one of those massage chairs so he can really live it up~
Two years ago, I asked my Dad out for dinner and a movie. He’s not the most demonstrative type, so we’re not really all mushy-mushy towards each other, but I asked him out anyway. I’m glad I did. We watched Mr. Bean’s Holiday together, and got a bite at Burgoo’s. We bonded over his favorite sandwich and my favorite buffalo wings. We could’ve just talked over a homecooked meal, but there was something sweeter about being away from home with him. Even if it was his eldest girl who paid for the whole date, I felt like his little girl the whole time. 🙂
Happy Father’s Day, Daddy! I love you!
we grew up with our dad bringing us to the beach for snorkeling. we happen to do it twice a month. that was when we were younger and now that we’re grown ups and discovered the many beautiful snorkeling sites, we gave our father a snorkeling treat in anilao. and let’s just keep this a secret… we’re bringing him to palawan.
Being a guy, it’s very hard to express how much I love my dad. It was only when he was admitted in the hospital for a stroke did I show how much I loved him. I was the one who stayed and took care of him even if it meant missing out a lot on school work, I was a college student then. Though he did not say a word, I could see in his eyes how much he appreciated the sacrifice I made. Happy father’s day Pa! Love You!
The best gift I ever gave my dad was I poem I had written him. He got sentimental over it because I said some things I normally wouldn’t. Happy Father’s Day Dad!
I am not a fan of the kitchen.. and it seems that kitchen’s not a fan of me either. But last year on my dad’s birthday… I spent a week in the kitchen learning how to cook hotdogs, scrambled eggs and bake a blueberry cheesecake (i know.. i know.. too simple.. but it really is hard for me!) So on his birthday, I surprised him with a breakfast in bed. Needless to say, he was sooo happy and proud that I was able to cook and bake for him.
Probably the best gift I have given my dad was graduating as a Dean’s Lister! He smiled proudly as he walked me to the stage to get my hard-earned medal. 🙂
The best surprise I gave my dad was I worked on his behalf for a day! I did his signage project for him that he scheduled to be finished on that day. I told him that since its father’s day he should just sit back and relax. I also brought with me the night before movies that he can watch on that day.. He did a movie marathon together with my mom. He was so happy!!!!

Last year’s papa’s day was a grand act. My siblings and I turned our house into a bed and breakfast of some sort, complete with handmade decorations (i.e. wall hangings and paper flowers). We served my dad (and my mom of course!) breakfast in bed, a picnic lunch (beneath a fake tree and a hand painted mural of a garden) and candlelight dinner.
My dad is a good cook. But after he had a stroke, he spends less time in the kitchen.
The sweetest thing i did for my dad is to cook his favorite food and he knows that i can’t cook. I researched on his favorite Callos and had a mock dinner to make sure that I’ll perfect this dish on that special day. I guess i did well as he requested for 3rd servings of my dish. I think i made him really proud.
When I was a kid, my tatay and I used to dream together. As we were about to sleep, he would often tell me stories about his foreigner friends (by the way, he was a taxi driver in NAIA). He always makes me amazed of little different languages he learned from them. And he’d tell me a lot of his childhood experiences! We dream of having a farm one day. He said we will raise chickens and hogs. He said he’ll teach me to plant vegetables. I love it when it’s stormy cause that’s when we will have time to sip coffee together beside our window pane. He would also show his version of dogs, rabbit and dinosaurs using his hand’s shadow when it’s brownout. Those were the days…our bonding moments.
Now that I am already a college, I may no longer get amazed with his stories. We may not have enough time to bond and enjoy more things together. I may be too busy now. But I will never ever forget how grateful I am to have a father like him. Tatay. My one and only tatay, Rodolfo Lacaba. With him, I always have a reason to come home. Seeing him in good condition and healthy being is all I ever wanted.
Not only because it’s father’s day. No need for seasons and special days. Because everyday would always be a special day for us. And as long as we’re alive, or even life after death, or even on my next life, hindi ko ipagpapalit ang tatay ko…sya pa rin.
I may not have any special presents for him, but I guess masaya na siya kung ako ang maglalagay ng efficasent oil sa balikat nya…
Love u tay!!! -oday
For me, whenever I think of sweet gesture I do for my dad- it is what we always do every sundays. Being a devotee of Mama Mary, he would always ask me to travel with him to Manaoag just to visit Our Lady of Manaoag (which was about 2 hours travel from where our hometown is). From my family, I was my dad’s one and only companion and church buddy when visiting Manaoag. And that, for me became special because it became our bonding thing every sundays and besides that, it always make me look forward to a day to get to know my dad even more.
Now, Although I am here in the metropolitan for my studies, I try to go home as much as often to our hometown during weekends just to be with my family and never miss out my sunday’s bonding with Dad. 🙂
my dad already passed away but that doesn’t mean the end. ‘coz through the memories he left both good and bad it made me the person i am right now. and without him i won’t be here. so thank you dad! 🙂
I’m my dad’s hair colorist for the past 15 years 🙂
My dad is a diabetic, but he loves sweets. Whenever I would stumble upon sugar-free candies and treats at the grocery store I always make it a point to get him some. He can’t really go out much since he is undergoing therapy. He has had several mild strokes and he can’t walk as well as he used to.
This father’s day I plan to treat him to a nice Chinese meal at Gloriamaris, and surprise him with a sugar-free cake. To be honest I’m sick of Chinese food because it’s always what we have during parties but I figured it’s a small compromise considering I can make that day special for dad.
Happy Father’s Day daddio!
I don’t really come from a sentimental family but I’d say the sweetest (well I wouldn’t really refer to it as sweet but this contest is all about sweetness) gift I ever gave my dad was a Samsung scanner-printer-copier for his office.
My dad’s the type who would never think of buying any of these new-fangled gadgets. What’s more, he always discourages us from giving him gifts. I’d see him walk to this shop all the way across the other street just to do all his photocopying. I thought what the heck, I’d just get him the Samsung. It was on the pricey side but my dad now saves money on zerox plus he doesn’t have to walk so far. He’s not as young as he used to be and so I try my best to make things more convenient for him whenever I can. I’d say it’s really one of the most worthwhile things I’ve ever bought. 🙂
I taught my dad to use his very first digital camera. =)
my dad retired last year from his work, in return to his hardwork we gave him one of the best gift, a trip to hongkong and macau with my mom.
Also we always get him something every payday either gave him allowance for whatever he wants to buy, treat to a dinner or 3 bottles of Red Horse or 1 bottle of brandy with his favorite pulutan papaitan. 🙂
This father’s day we plan to treat him to his fav resto in moa and hopefully have a surpirse jollibee adult party on his 67th bday next year.
Luv you dada!!! mwahhh
My father is all 63 years old now. One thing that makes him happy is going to several DVD shops almost everyday to look for movies of his age either to buy one or have them reserved.
One time, before my father left the house to do his usual routine of scouting DVDs, I secretly put 500 pesos on his wallet. When he arrived home, he was so ecstatic because he got to buy some great DVDs with the money. He began to asked who among us, his children, put the 500 pesos on his wallet. I just acted clueless but my heart was smiling for I know that I made my father so so happy in my own little way.
One of the sweetest gesture I had given my dad was a big hug and told him I was sorry about something we had to fight over with before he died a couple of months after that incident. This incident just keeps on rewinding in my head and made me miss him all the more as the years pass by.
I’ve never had a memorable experience with my Dad, ‘coz he’s not with us anymore. But it would be my forever wish that one day, we’ll meet up again and just be the best daughter I could be for him. I miss my dad. :’(
Sweetest gesture for my dad…. no matter how busy I am, I still make it a point to prepare his herbal juice (even if its an instant juice) everydyay and make sure that he drinks it. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY PAPA!!!
were … in a hard time…. us family is experiencing problems…. so we cant really … i cant really give him something big.. or grand…..sweetest thing that i did for my dad is to watch the manny pacquiao game with him. he always watches boxing alone and hes so animated and he has no one to exchange the best part of the game. last fight of manny, i watch it with him and we exchange accounts even if it just happened a round ago… =P
Tay! Happy father’s day! All this stuff thats happening will end and we will be victorious in the end.. just like pacman!
HAPPY FATHERS day!!!!!
I’m going to make an extra big card for my dad this Father’s Day, help him wash the car, and treat him to a movie from allowance money I saved because my dad loves movies. Thank you for being the coolest dad ever!
Last year, my dad was diagnosed of liver cirrhosis and we are all shocked about what happened. I was in 3rd year college that time so i was depressed what happened. When my dad was been discharged in the hospital Me and my mom decided that we will plan to go to bohol so that we can give our dad the most precious moment that we could have him and i promise to him that i will do all my best to study and work hard so that i will continue his goal and dream for our family to have good life and good career in the future. The best thing that i told my dad I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND I WILL ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF HIM NO MATTER WHAT.
My dad walked me down to the altar for my wedding. That day was also father’s day.
My dad died 14 years ago when I was 15 due to hypertension. I miss my dad so much. When people talk about their dad, it still hurts.
But I am still lucky because when my father died, I am beside him. I never regret the time when I missed my barkada’s gimik, nor the day my crush passed by. Because I know that during those times, I made my dad happy and proud for taking care of him until the end.
I owe my Dad a lot. He gave me my faith in the Lord. That faith help me survive and think of the beauty life has to offer. I know that when we woke up this morning, it was the last day we could guarantee. It is our job to use every second to make this a better place to be.
Now,I am presently married and I know that I married the right guy, a replica of my father, my hero.
When I think about the fleeting years that were gone for good, I can’t help but smile at our memories Daddy.
I’d go back if I could. It seems like only yesterday when you were always there when I need some advice. You stood by me and made me feel safe and welcome even at times when I didn’t make it easy for you.
I wish I could repay you for all the wonderful things you’ve done for me. You’ve been a perfect Father and a Friend even when we don’t agree.
You always told me that I will grow up to be anything I wanted and you were right. The one thing I grew up to be, is grateful to have a Father as wonderful as you.
I love you, Papa. Sending this message across the heavens, where you dwell among the angels.
I am the only one who knows how papa like his coffee done every morning and every night, so I always make “timpla” his coffees…
I gave my dad a mobile phone for Christmas last year. Well, it wasn’t that much, but he personally requested for it so he said he can communicate with me. And that’s coming from an estranged father whom I was not in good terms with since time immemorial! Hopefully that phone would tell him that I have already forgiven him for his folly of leaving us for another woman. Anyway, Happy Father’s Day!
My dad suffered a stroke about 2 years ago, He had a hard time coping since he is already 73. He had the greatest depression he has felt since he has a very active lifestyle…. I can see it in his eyes everytime we meet. So last year I decided to give him a treat, and took him to Taiwan for vacation as he hasn’t been there. It was very tiring for me as I was the only one capable of handling him, as we went with my wife and mother.
All the tiredness was gone when he thank me for taking him on this trip… I will never forget this, as I hope one day my child would have the same love for me, as I am with my father… as with all the fathers out there. I love you dad.
Happy father’s day to all.
One time I got into an argument with my Dad and I refused to speak to him the whole morning. That afternoon, I saw him checking the car that I was supposed to use on a trip the next day. It was then that I truly realized that a Father’s love is indestructible. I felt so guilty and ashamed of myself. The next morning, I cancelled my own trip, to the dismay of some people, and decided to take my Dad on a father-daughter road trip instead. He was kind of surprised that I would rather spend time with him than go on with the trip myself. I gave him a firm embrace and told him that he will always come first in my list. And both of us started to cry. It was a bittersweet moment for us.

I’m going to give my dad a big hug and a kiss this Father’s Day. 😀
Ever since I moved out of our house to start my own family 4 years ago, I never let a day go by without telling him I love him. Either by phone call or thru text messages. He is a very hands on father, living without him made it hard for me. I visit him every weekends and I am always at his side during special occasions.
My dad is very fond of fishing. he likes everything with fish in it. During his last birthday, he wasn’t expecting anything from me. I saved up and bought him a nice t-shirt from SM with a fish and rod print on it. Later that night, we are gonna celebrate with his fishing pals. When mom and my brothers greeted him, I gave him the shirt and he was so happy. He wore it immediately , before his friends arrived 😀
The best gift I gave my was an apology for all the disobediant things I’ve done and all the hurtful words I might have said to him. I also thanked him for all that he’s done.
I gave my dad a collection of all his favorite cd’s from the 60’s up to the present. I wanted to give him something that would remind him of me. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
My father is a seaman so last father’s day we sent him a huge father’s day card… with a big I LOVE YOU and some of my artworks i made for him..
This might not exactly be the “sweetest” thing that you can think about. When my father got diabetes, I helped in our bakery business by learning how to make bread, drive tricycle to sell “pan de sal” in the morning, and get wood for the bakery’s furnace. I do not like to show what I feel but I think my father knows how much I love him. So I do not regret not having said “I love you, dad.” while he was still alive. It’s sad however that he died a few months before I graduated with honors in high school. Almost 7 years had passed and I always remember my promise to myself to do my best for my mom whom my father loved so much. I graduated cum laude and now a successful professional. How I wish he can see my accomplishments today.
This father’s day I’m going have a date with my dad!!!! We’ll are going to have a daughter father bonding!!!! Love you dad!!!
since I got married 10 years ago, the best gesture that I did was to offer a prayer for him, whenever there is a special occasion, I always lead prayer of thanksgiving for him for his birthday, fathers day, Im so proud of my dad, and I always cherish every moment with him, HAPPY FATHER’s Day Papa Freddie I LOve you Very much
This year i want to surprise my Dad because it’s Fathers Day so i want to surprise him by Giving him a CD full of the happy moments of us but i thing it was not so a special gift so i want to give him a Sweet Dozen Doughnuts Of Krispy Kreme
Thanks & God Bless I Hope We Win In These Contest …>
My Dad and I relationship was just like a barkada, I always respond tohim that we are on the same age. Just like a friend whom you can freely taught what do you feel on him. So wish I can give him some sweet foods this fathers day. Happy fathers day Brad!
I was the one who taught Dad to use the computer and now he’s a techie and now he’s got Friendster and facebook and now he’s learning how to blog and he’s teaching me!!! I may not be a perfect daughter Daddy, but I am very happy on how you raised us. I love you, happy Father’s day!!!
